Our History
Graves Overhead Doors opened for business in 1998. However, our story begins long before that and is rooted in service and dedication to our customers. The background of our inception starts first with a young man who had nothing to start out with except dreams of creating a new life, a strong set of values, and a solid work ethic.
-
1966
Fred Graves relocates from a rural East Tennessee town to the big city of Atlanta. After starting a family, he launches his first enterprise in 1966, Graves Construction Company, and begins a long career in commercial building.
-
1977
In the mid-'70s, Fred moves to the suburbs just north of Atlanta. Realizing the future growth potential of the area coupled with soaring energy prices, his entrepreneurial spirit shifts into high gear. He opens Graves Fireplaces, Inc. serving both contractors and homeowners. His wife Barbara Graves was providing all accounting functions. -
1998
Fred's vision of expansion to provide additional services to an already strong and developing metro area is realized in 1998. With only himself, two technicians, a warehouse person, and receptionist, Graves Overhead Doors opens its doors for business.
-
2000
In 2000, Mr. Graves' son Lee joins the company, initially serving as Vice President and Operations Manager. Graves Overhead Doors continued to grow and thrive, thanks to the foresight of our founder, dedicated associates, the best suppliers in the industry, the loyal support of customers through the years, and most of all God's goodness.

Today
The company remains family owned and its owners actively manage the businesses on a daily basis. Much has changed over the years but our guiding principles of integrity, service, and value have stayed the same, and we believe they will guide us well as we embrace the future.
